A Web Site Is ...

... an internationally available, dynamic publication that, favorable conditions prevailing, can be accessed 24 hours a day, every day of the year. There is no other communication medium like a Web site. The author(s) can make a change at a moment’s notice, and that change is immediately reflected in every instance of the publication that is accessed anywhere on Earth.

Ask most people who have built a Web site, and they will tell you that it can be relatively easy and cheap. Ready yourself to venture into this exciting new world by taking a little time to learn basic Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). Learn the basics of the language behind Web pages before you start using either an online or standalone what-you-see-is-what-you-get (sort of) application to build pages and sites. [link]

 It only takes a little Web surfing to find a number of free or inexpensive [tooltip] [link] hosting sites where you can build your pages. You can use clipart [tooltip] [link] or photography [tooltip] [link] from your own digital camera for “eye candy.”

OK. There's a whole lot of information that runs quite deeply into the development process. Let's step back now and answer the question many people ask, "How do I really begin to build my Web site?"

The first question that has to be answered is, "Why are you building a Web site? Or more pointedly, "What is the purpose of your Web site?"

The answer to this question will be the purpose or mission of your Web site.
