A personal favorite of the author’s, these sites take the knowledge and experience of a professional job function and, with a certain amount of built-in intelligence, offers the capabilities of these skills to those who do not possess them. Notable examples exist in the world of hosting, building, and maintaining Web sites that, used with restraint and taste, can help fewer people (maybe as few as one) actually build extremely well-designed and functional Web sites.

Applications

This type of site allows you to complete a task online that would have otherwise have taken place in the paper and pen world. An excellent example is searching a company's job database, finding several jobs in which you are interested, and submitting your résumé for each of them. Perhaps the company has even built an online version of their employment application into the process.
